Samalona is a small island in the Strait of Makassar, precisely in the southwest of the west coast of South Sulawesi. Administratively, the island belonged to the city of Makassar, South Sulawesi. More precisely the position is located in the west district Wajo, Makassar, about 2 km away and can be seen clearly from the township.

To reach this island could use fishing boats (boats with outboard engines) and require travel time of no more than 0.5 hours. On this island stands a lighthouse that is used as a boundary marker for ships land a big man.
